It was a sunny day and we really lucked out weather-wise for our carriage ride. Our tour guide was a little different but he gave a nice tour of the city so we can't complain! Joseph enjoyed waving to people and saying Hi as we drove by. He reverted to needing his Nuk later in the ride as it was nearing his naptime.
On the last leg of the tour he threw his Nuk out of the carriage! A waiter from a restaurant ran to the road, scooped up the Nuk, and delivered it to the carriage for Joseph. Of course I was saying "No, it's OK, we have others!" but was thankful that the waiter was so thoughtful!! Wow, southern hospitality at it's finest! Charleston is a very friendly city.

Charleston, SC Aquarium
Joseph had a great time at the aquarium. Unfortunately, with the lights and the glass reflecting the flash most of our pictures weren't the greatest.

SNOW DAY!!!
We got a wonderful amount of snow (about 7") here in Raleigh. Snow is rare in these parts, so it causes a bit of a slow down in the day-to-day functioning of the city. Daycare was closed (although I have been quoted saying daycare would "close down if a kid dirtied a diaper"---so that alone is not an indicator as to how the Triangle was affected). We have a fabulous daycare....um...yeah.
Joe's work was closed down on Tuesday. I work in a hospital. I drove, it took me a few extra minutes to get there but the roads were not horrible ( I have seen worse, doesn't mean I would want to drive on worse). Fortunately, the roads were also without most traffic, which made the drive on the bad roads much better.
After arrival at work I called Joe to see how the snow day was progressing. They were dressing to go outside according to daddy. (Read this as Jackets were being worn over jammies in order to get outside as fast as possible).
Please enjoy some pix of father helping son sled on the front yard!! Joseph had a BLAST!!

Christmas Morning
Sorry that this update is so delayed! A few people have mentioned that they have checked the blog a few times and noticed that I had not updated it. I apologize, the holidays have made me lazy. Please enjoy a few shots of the little guy on Christmas morning, it was a fun time for all of us!

He really got into opening presents, ripping off the wrapping paper and seeing what was inside.

Joseph even enjoyed the shoes that I got for Christmas! He loves clunking around in heels on the hardwood floors.
I think his favorite thing all morning was his new kitchen and the million and one piece food set:
Hope everyone had a very merry Christmas and that 2009 started off as a great New Year!! I can't believe that it's 2009!

Can't wait for Christmas!
This weekend we had Joe's work Christmas party.

Santa was there and Joseph loved getting a gift and opening it by very slowly tearing the paper off in tiny little pieces.

This preview of Christmas morning only makes us more excited because we know that he's going to open all of the gifts under the tree! Of course we also have found out that wrapped gifts have to be kept hidden until the time they are allowed to be opened, because there is no slowing him down when he sees gifts under the tree...

Joseph has also figured out that he can be about a foot taller if he pushes his chair up to the counter. He did this all by himself. I am secretly hoping that he'll forget that he can do it one night while he's sleeping. Until then I have to keep my counters clean.

Unfortunately, Joseph was sick the last couple days so he wasn't able to help us bake cookies. I bet he would have loved to help but instead he took nap number 3 for the day while dad and mom made 2 batches of cookies! Poor kid.

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas...
We woke up on Friday to a white 'Christmas' so we thought we would make the most of it.
I've been trying to get things for Joseph for Christmas, but they keep kind-of ending up out in plain sight for him to play with. Ooops.
I guess mommy enjoys the excitement on her little ones face a little too much to wait ALL the way to Christmas. Plus, wouldn't it be over-whelming if he got it all on one morning?
You should have saw the look on his face when he saw a playhouse!
He loves his table and chairs to sit at and color.
Boxes have always been a favorite!
My only problem is...what to get him to open on Christmas morning!! I love Christmas, maybe it should last all year!
