Can't wait for Christmas!

This weekend we had Joe's work Christmas party.

Santa was there and Joseph loved getting a gift and opening it by very slowly tearing the paper off in tiny little pieces.

This preview of Christmas morning only makes us more excited because we know that he's going to open all of the gifts under the tree! Of course we also have found out that wrapped gifts have to be kept hidden until the time they are allowed to be opened, because there is no slowing him down when he sees gifts under the tree...

Joseph has also figured out that he can be about a foot taller if he pushes his chair up to the counter. He did this all by himself. I am secretly hoping that he'll forget that he can do it one night while he's sleeping. Until then I have to keep my counters clean.

Unfortunately, Joseph was sick the last couple days so he wasn't able to help us bake cookies. I bet he would have loved to help but instead he took nap number 3 for the day while dad and mom made 2 batches of cookies! Poor kid.

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas...

We woke up on Friday to a white 'Christmas' so we thought we would make the most of it.
I've been trying to get things for Joseph for Christmas, but they keep kind-of ending up out in plain sight for him to play with. Ooops.
I guess mommy enjoys the excitement on her little ones face a little too much to wait ALL the way to Christmas. Plus, wouldn't it be over-whelming if he got it all on one morning?

You should have saw the look on his face when he saw a playhouse!

He loves his table and chairs to sit at and color.

Boxes have always been a favorite!

My only problem is...what to get him to open on Christmas morning!! I love Christmas, maybe it should last all year!

Pictures, Pictures, Pictures!!

Holiday picture time. We had quite a wait at Portrait Innovations today, I picked a bad time on a bad day. Joseph did OK with the wait but just wasn't himself for the picture session. Probably had something to do with his dinner being delayed by about 2 hours...he just wanted to do it HIS way.

Which meant standing on the chairs...

And running around the place...

And screaming!

We brought Tigger along to encourage bouncing. Nope. He just stood there and watched Tigger like he had never seen him before. At home he bounces with Tigger until he wears himself out. The photographer probably thought it was a new toy. He bounced about twice, fortunately the photographer snapped a pic!

Poor Tigger!

Christmas pictures turned out pretty well, though the smiles were few!

And only one with drool!

What a weekend project!!

This weekend Joe and I decided to start the front flower bed wall. We had ordered the dry stack stone and it was delivered on Thursday. We just needed to dive in, so we did!!

The pictures above are at the end of one day of stacking. We had great weather!!

Check out the progress--and the result!! WOW! This project went a lot faster than we thought it would.
View from the office:

I'll take some pictures tomorrow morning! Even though these were taken at 5:30 they turned out a little dark...sorry!

OH, it's my first day at the new job tomorrow, WISH ME LUCK!!!

Trick or Treat!!

Joseph wouldn't actually say "Trick or Treat" but we did go up to a few houses and get some candy for him to play with.

He loved being a frog. We had practiced hopping all morning, but then we let him ride in the wagon for the night.

We only had one family come and trick or treat at our house, so we filled their pumpkin to the brim. The little 3 year old was very excited to have so much candy. We still had a ton of leftovers which Joe and I have been picking at and will continue to do until it's all gone. Next year I'm buying 2 king sized candy bars and that's it. Yeah right!

Decorating the house

With all of the effort that we are putting into the exterior of the house, I am trying to get a project or two done inside also. This week I started to paint the kitchen and breakfast area. Unfortunately I didn't have a ladder so I have yet to complete the top trim. It's not done yet...but here is a picture to give an idea of how it's going to look.

I'm not sure who enjoys dress up time more...

Our typical weekend includes a trip to our favorite warehouse club, Costco. Today after enjoying our pizza and hotdog at the food court we ventured into the packed aisles of Costco one-by-one hoping to find large sizes of everything we can't live without. As a wise man once said "if Costco sells it, then we must need it", or maybe that was just my husband explaining the rationale for why we HAD to get something he wanted/needed.

Today I needed another Halloween costume for Joseph. Please enjoy some pictures.

Our *new* yard!

Well, all of our hard work has really paid off.
We now have a beautiful yard!

It rained about 3/4" last night so it looks as if we timed the installation perfectly.

Now to get some landscaping in place to complete the curb appeal of our new home.

Even our back yard is beautiful!

Why seed when you can sod?

About a week ago Joe says to me "you know we could sod the yard instead of seeding and putting down straw...it'd be an instant yard..."

"Really? You can do that? I was not aware that you could just buy grass that's been pre-grown" I said (sarcastically of course).
Joe had decided that the bales of straw were 'costly' and the whole deal with seed and straw would be messy and time consuming and the sodding was actually less expensive than we had previously thought.

So, within a week turnaround time we had an instant beautiful yard. Except for the finishing touches of plants, shrubs, trees and mulch our yard is nearly complete.

Pictures of the nearly complete yard will be posted soon, it's dark out!!
